We have filed a PIL for the removal of the slums on mangrove land in Borivli with the High Court and had mentioned about the water and electricity thefts taking place here.
We had also filed several complaints in this regard with the MCGM.

We have received a circular from your organization for collecting Rs.11/- per member per month towards saving mangroves. We appreciate the work you and your forum has been doing to protect the mangroves but we feel that this is not the correct way to collect funds for the same. We cannot force our members to donate towards charity no matter how noble the cause. Charity is an individuals personal choice no one can be forced against his/her wish. Representatives from your forum have also been going door to door to collect funds in our society which is also not right.
ReplyDeleteWe feel that you could set up collection kiosks at strategic locations and let those who are interested in donating towards the cause come forward on their own. You could also give details of your a/c no. IFSC code, etc so that people can donate online through fund transfer.

Very good idea, and such minimal funds are the best way to garner support, involvement and a sense of ownership.
